about

One of the pieces of “Shishimono” (pieces about lions) from shakuhachi koten-honkyoku (traditional Japanese music). This piece was written for enjoyment while “Honshirabe” was played during Buddism training. It was easier to arrange this piece as it has a set rhythm, but it comes out differently depending on who is playing the shakuhachi. You could say that it is one of the exciting things about shakuhachi music. - Yukihiro Atsumi
